These are challenging times for farmers. Family farmers are particularly vulnerable in this climate of change.

The National Farmers Network brings together local family farmer groups from across England, to provide mutual support. We also seek to influence policies that affect family farmers and to gain public support.

We would particularly like to hear from farmers and local farmer groups that are interested to become members of the National Farmers Network - Contact us

National Farmers Network

Linking local farmer groups across England - the new National Farmers Network seeks to bring family farmers together for mutual support.

The National Farmers Network is a network of local family farmer groups, organisations and networks across England.

They come together to exchange ideas and good practice, to work together to influence the policies that directly affect their livelihoods and to gain the public support for maintaining family farms.

These are challenging times for farmers and family farmers are most likely to be affected

But we believe that by working together we can help bring about positive changes to farming livelihoods and work towards a thriving family farming sector.

Using the Sustainable Livelihoods Approach in the Peak District Farming Community - The ‘Farming Lives’ project took an in depth look at the lives of some Peak District farming families in terms of the farming business and all aspects of their livelihoods. The project was built around the Sustainable Livelihoods Approach. If this approach is found to be effective, we think that it may be of interest to farmer groups and organisations around the country that work to support farmers through these challenging times.

The aims of the conference were to promote to farmers the benefits of working together in farmer networks, to provide a forum for the exchange of good practice and ideas between existing networks throughout England, and to demonstrate to invited regional policy makers that supporting the work of farmer-led networks can help them deliver their rural development objectives.
The desired outcome from the day was to gain commitment from delegates to the development and promotion of networking between farmers groups.
